Author and Time of Writing. The book of Leviticus as well as the book of Numbers follow immediately after the book of Exodus. The book of Numbers begins with the words "And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinaï, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt.".

3) I was led to it through Amazon's 'Other Books You Might Like' feature on the webpage of a novel I had previously read and loved (check out James Dashner's 'The Maze Runner', it's great!) I feel that 'Numbers', unfortunately, falls into that group of novels that sound great when you read the blurb - with a sytlish cover to match - but does /5().

The Book of Numbers (from Greek Ἀριθμοί, Arithmoi; Hebrew: בְּמִדְבַּר ‎, Bəmiḏbar, "In the desert [of]") is the fourth book of the Hebrew Bible, and the fourth of five books of the Jewish Torah. The book has a long and complex history; its final form is possibly due to a Priestly redaction (i.e., editing) of a Yahwistic source made some time in the early Persian period.

The Bible is a book of true stories from people’s lives throughout history. The Apostle John wrote the book of 3 John at the end of the first century—over fifty years after he had walked with Jesus. Thru the Bible takes the listener through the entire Bible in just five years, threading back and forth between the Old and New Testaments.

NUMBERS (Called Arithmoiin the Septuagint, meaning “Arithmetic”) WRITER:Moses (see outline of Genesis) THEME: “PILGRIM’S PROGRESS”— walking, wander- ing, working, warring, witnessing, and worshiping. It is a hand-book for pilgrims. “Chart and compass come from Thee.”.

The Book of Numbers, called Arithmoi (meaning “Arithmetic”) in the Septuagint, gets its name from the census in chapters 1 and Numbers takes up the story where Exodus left off. It is the fourth book of the Pentateuch. You will recall that in Genesis, the first book of the Pentateuch, we have the creation and fall of man and many beginnings.

The Book of Numbers is the fourth Book of the Law of Moses, also known as the Torah or Pentateuch. The Law includes the Books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The Book of Numbers was named after the first key word Bemidbar in Hebrew Scripture, which appropriately means "in the desert," the place where the Israelites spent forty.

America's two most influential style and usage guides have different approaches: The Associated Press Stylebook recommends spelling out the numbers zero through nine and using numerals thereafter—until one million is reached.

Here are four examples of how to write numbers abovein AP style: 1 million; 20 million; 20,; trillion. Numbers reiterates the value of faith and obedience.

Leviticus stresses the role of sacrifice in creating and maintaining right relations between God and man, whereas Numbers accentuates the indispensability of the priesthood for preserving the nation’s spiritual health.

At least three theological strains run through the Book of Numbers: 1. The book of numbers is largely Narrative History as far as its genre. It was written by Moses about B.C. Key personalities include Moses, Aaron, Miriam, Joshua, Caleb, Eleazar, Korah, and Balaam.

The purpose of the book of Numbers is to tell about how Israel prepared to enter the promise land, but sinned and was punished. Numbers is so named because a census of Israel is taken twice in the book.

The first census was completed while the Israelites were still at Mount Sinai (chapters ), and the second one came 38 years later when they arrived at the borders of Canaan at the end of their wanderings in the wilderness (chapter 26).

Author: Moses was the author of the Book of Numbers. Date of Writing: The Book of Numbers was written between and B.C. Purpose of Writing: The message of the Book of Numbers is universal and timeless.

It reminds believers of the spiritual warfare in which they are engaged, for Numbers is the book of the service and walk of God’s people.

This is, in my opinion, the best and most beautiful. So, in summary, Numbers affirms the truth of Numbers"Be sure your sin will find you out." 1 This designation is based on the numberings that are a major focus of. The book of Numbers tells why. The Israelites' disobedience and lack of faith caused God to make them wander in the desert until all the people of that generation had died--with a few important exceptions.

The book draws its name from the census made of the people, a necessary step toward their organization and future government.
